Statistical Quality Control is the application of statistical tools in the industry to maintain the quality of products.
According to Ya-Lun-Chou, "Statistical quality control can be simply defined as an economic and effective system of maintaining and improving the quality of outputs throughout the whole operating
process of specification, production, and inspection based on continuous testing with random samples."
The technique of statistical quality control helps in separating the assignable causes from the chance causes.
Many statistical tools like charts, averages, range, standard deviation, sampling, etc, are used in statistical quality control. When these techniques are used in production quality control, this is known as statistical quality control or SQC.
Advantages of Statistical Quality control
1. Saving of Time and Wealth
2. Dectition of Faults
3. Easy to Apply
4. Knowledge of the effect of change in the production process
5. More Reliable Results
6. Trade between producer and Consumer Risk
Methods of Statistical Quality Control
There are two methods are mainly used for statistical quality control:
1. Process Control. Under process control, the quality of the product is controlled while the product is in the process of manufacturing so that no defective product is produced.
2. Product Control is concerned with the inspection of the manufactured products.
